About the Book
Mavis always assumed that she would be in a hospital with the good drugs when her time came. Not in the middle of the road, with no one around but the damn town mechanic that hated her.
But there she was, having a rock star’s baby, with no one to rely on but the one that let it be known around every turn that she was a horrible person.
From the time that she met Murphy and became best friends with him at the age of eight, she knew he was destined for greatness.

But there she is at his CrossFit gym. Then having a baby on the side of the road. Oh, and breaking him a little more with each step she takes away.
Eventually, they find their way back to each other. The only problem is, by the time that Mavis makes her way back into his heart, it breaks. And not in a rhetorical way. In the ‘he only has days to live’ kind of way.
Every once in a while Lani Lynn Vale writes a book that goes even beyond the already high bar she has set and ends up absolutely gutting me and ruining me for other books for at least a month. Jerk It is one of those books that has done that. I don’t know how I’m supposed to move on from this book because I don’t know what will live up to the way this book made me feel.
Full honesty here, I was utterly gutted by parts of this book. I’m talking, ugly, hysterical, snot-filled sobbing. My heart hurt so much that for the first time ever I genuinely thought I would have to put down a book by Lani Lynn Vale. But I pulled up my big girl panties and reminded myself Lani has never let me down and carried on. HOOMAHGAWD I’m so glad I did. If you reach that point, TRUST ME, keep going. It’s so freaking worth it. Mavis and Murphy truly have one of the most beautiful stories this author has ever written.
Now, don’t get me wrong, this book is so much more than those rip-your-heart-out-pass-the-tissues-i-need-lots-of-tequila-to-survive moments. There is still a ton of that sarcastic and relatable humor everyone loves from Lani in here, along with heat, and some sweet little warm and fuzzy emotion too. These two have a second chance romance that is like no other. Jerk It is a book you absolutely DO NOT want to miss out on experiencing!
