I always know going in with any book from Emma Scott I’m going to take a hit to the feels. She has this unique way of writing such powerfully emotional stories that are always incredibly unique to the characters. Time and time again I am blown away with the impact each of her books has on me and The Last Piece of His Heart did not disappoint in any of those areas. Ronan and Shilioh’s story is just as powerful, just as emotional, and just as captivating as the first two books in the Lost Boys series.
Honestly, Ronan’s story may be the most hard hitting emotionally out of all the lost boys. Finally seeing the world through his eyes, learning the details of his life, at times it hurt my heart *almost* too much, but my gawd, this man has a beautiful soul and I could not step away from him. Ronan is the type of hero who a quietness to him that digs deep into your heart in a way that hits harder than louder more open heroes. Fiercely protective and loyal, when he gives his heart to someone he gives it all. Shiloh is very similar to Ronan in her own way, but still uniquely her. Softer, but just as closed off as he was at times. I adored her just as much as I adored Ronan.
Both of these characters bring a story that overflows with raw emotion, healing, overcoming, loyalty, and more than anything love.
