BLURB
It’s time to pay my father’s debt.
Nobody is stupid enough to steal from him, Cayden Vitali.
They call him Devious for a reason. He doesn’t let his debts go unpaid. He
collects what he’s owed.
Lex Bartoli works for Devious. Lex should know better than to steal his money.
But mistakes were made, and now it’s time to pay.
Unfortunately for me, Devious knows exactly what he wants as payment for Lex’s
stupid mistake.
Me.
Lex’s daughter.
If I won’t agree to marry Devious, he has another way of making my family pay.
The choice is mine.
Marry the enemy… or watch him kill my father as payback.
Devious is a mafia book with an arranged marriage, enemies to lovers and an
age gap romance.
3.5 ⭐⭐⭐
Everyone knows I am a huge sucker for all things mafia! This blurb pulled me in and had me very intrigued. It started out dark and gritty, but lost some of the grit along the way. I read the book in hopes that the twisted dark plot line would pick back up. Unfortunately for me it did not pick back up.
Devious is a huge alpha-hole and I really wanted to punch him in the face a time or two. As we get to know him all I could picture is an angel sitting on one should and the devil on the other. His past history with love is not very good, and vows to never love again. He is a strong leader, and when push comes to shove he shows his dark and demented side.
Now our heroine is a very naive young woman forced into something she does not want. The things I did like about her is her back bone, sassiness, and her ability to do the impossible. The things that kinda drove me crazy was the way she would ask the same things over. I understand she is young, and her home life was far from good, but the constant need for validation was a little much.
Their relationship together was far from rainbows and unicorns. The back and forth with the two of them and the constant dialogue of will he/she was starting to give me whiplash. All in all the plot line was really interesting, but fell a little short. I guess I was just expecting it to be darker than what it was. Will this turn me off from the author. Nope.
