Julia’s 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩 hat review:
I’m pretty sure Stealing Cinderella is my new favorite fairy tale retelling! It wasn’t rainbows and sunshine. It was real, raw, and dark. I loved every bit of it. It shed light on mental illness as well as abuse. I can’t gush enough about this story.
Ella has it rough. We all know the story, yet hers is so much more harder. Abuse runs rampant with her stepmother and siblings. Yet she’s still ever the optimist. When she meets the hard and cold Thorsen, her life changes in ways she never imagined. Thorsen has, in some ways, had it way worse than Ella. My heart sobbed for him. But Ella helps heal him in ways he didn’t think was possible. Them together was absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful.
Stealing Cinderella quickly became one of my top reads for 2020. A. Zavarelli combines heat and emotion to make a completely epic read. 100% unputdownable. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!
Heather’s 🎩🎩🎩🎩 hat review:
Recently I have been on a dark fairy tales. This retelling of Cinderella is by far the darkest I’ve read. Ella is a beautiful soul who has been mistreated from the time she was a girl. As in Cinderella you get the evil step-monster and her equally evil step-sisters. Ella is passionate and does everything she can to help those she loves. Enter our dark and twisted prince Thoreson. Now when I say dark I mean dark. When the these two souls come together something extraordinary begins. Their story is not one of hearts and flowers. It is very raw, gritty, and twisted.
If you are looking for a dark and gritty re-telling of this fairy tale please know A. Zavarelli did not disappoint. These characters are well thought out and so well written you will be compelled by them. I had a hard time putting my kindle down while reading since I just had to see how things were going to play out. I will say A. did play into my blood thirsty appetite and I loved it.
