Britt’s 🎩🎩🎩.5 hat review:
This book has all the elements for something I love to read but just fell flat for me in some parts. Don’t get me wrong, there’s quite a bit I really love in Brett and Mila’s story it just wasn’t enough to overshadow some things. I found both Brett and Mila to be easily enjoyable characters. They both were kind hearted with great big loving families, so what’s not to love there!?
Where Mila has been a hardworking single mom, Brett has been living a carefree adventurous bachelor life. It’s clear from the start while these two may seem like polar opposites their chemistry is undeniable. And the amount of growing Brett did was really magnificent. While I really did love these two some things just really took the story down a notch for me. It’s clear the author isn’t American, which I have no issue with, but the characters who were American and clearly living in the states frequently used words and sayings that just didn’t fit. So much so I kept having to go back and double check this actually was set in the states. Things like saying torch instead of flashlight, alternating between having someone over for tea but then referring to it as dinner a few pages later, etc. That along with an ending that just felt a bit rushed to me kept this book from being a true five star for me.
A single mom and chef, a surprise baby, and playboy hero. Sounds like a recipe for delicious romance which is why I was really excited to read Rekindled Love by Maggie Mundy.
I really liked Mila. She’s a great mom and I liked her character. Likable, relatable and who doesn’t like a chef? Yum. Brett was the quintessential single bachelor hero. Together transe two has sizzling chemistry and an ‘opposites attract’ vibe that worked for them. Although the couple had chemistry and i liked the characters, everything seemed to fizzle for me due to inconsistencies in the story. I liked Brett and really rooted for Mila and he, but their romance seemed a bit rushed and like I was missing something near the end. All in all Rekindled love had good characters, a promising storyline, a romance I rooted for, but just missed the mark. 3 stars.
