Man am I torn on this book. All my feelings keep darting back and forth on what I loved and what I didn’t. Brenda St John’s writing is absolutely fantastic but I just felt no connection to the characters at all. I kept waiting for that moment when I would be really sucked in to the story and it unfortunately just did not happen for me. Without that connection everything just sort of fell flat for me.That said, it doesn’t mean Maid in England wouldn’t be someone else’s favorite read and Brenda’s writing definitely makes it worth trying out.

of the word “pants”. And how to order a proper bacon bap/barm/buttie. Because,
swoon. When she’s not writing, she enjoys hiking, running and reading. In
theory, she also enjoys cooking, but it’s more that she enjoys eating and, try
as she might, she can’t live on Doritos alone.
