Words like unnatural and impure started the whispers.
From the very beginning, Ivy Blackwood was different. She was only a child when she was accused of setting the fire, one she passively watched engulf the small house she had called home. Her fingertips burned and her hair singed. Some who watched her crossed themselves, convinced she was soulless for she showed no emotion at all. Calm and dispassionate, even when the screaming started that quickly turned to bellows of agony before dying into nothing but the roaring of the fire.
She was locked away where she couldn’t bring harm to herself or others. To all involved, they had protected the world from a monster, but sometimes things are not what they seem.

Julia’s 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩 hat review:
Good and evil. It’s a struggle that has been talked about for ages. Decades. Centuries. Yet one thing remained the same. Good and evil must balance each other out. One can’t be more powerful than the other. With The Gathering we get a mystical and fantastic tale of the struggle of good and evil. This book was so well written I stayed shocked throughout it. So many things happen. I can’t give it away, but I will say be prepared to be shocked. The Gathering is a perfect October night read with some of the most fantastical beings. Ivy is a sociopath. At least that’s what she’s been told for more than twenty years. She doesn’t believe it, but if she wasn’t crazy why has she been in a mental institution for so long? She has very little memory of times before. She has dreams though. Magical dreams she never wants to escape. Dreams that show her a man who she loved with everything, and would sacrifice everything to be with. When dreams become reality though? Will she survive what is coming?
I really liked the innocence that Ivy inspired. Yes she is thirty two years old, but having spent her entire life in an institution she has a certain naive innocence about her that calls to you. Makes you want to befriend her. Ivy may be innocent, but she’s fierce. Fiercely loyal and fiercely good. Her connection to Bain is awe-inspiring. Their love transcends all of time. When you find out everything, when all the pieces finally come together, you are left with your jaw hanging open as you re-read everything you just learned! I am excited for more Ivy chronicles, I’d love to see and learn more about this family they created.
L.A. Fiore has created a unputdownable read with The Gathering. As soon as you finish, you’ll want to pick it back up and re-read it to get anything you may have missed the first time!
LA Fiore is a hybrid author of thirteen novels. She believes in a happily ever after, but she likes to make her readers work for it. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found in the garden or hanging on the deck with her family and friends. She lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with her husband and two kids and their four fur babies.
