Max Horton

They call me an outcast like it’s a bad thing.

An asshole byproduct of a shitty upbringing. I don’t care about anything except myself and my little sister.

I will always protect what’s mine.

With one year left on my hockey contract I’m keeping my head down and my eyes on the goal.

A collision, with her, changes my entire existence.

Allison Grant

Never fall in love with a sports star. That’s what my stepfather always said. He told me athletes are complicated and moody—that the higher their paycheck, the lower their morals.

As public relations for the New York Stingers I know exactly what he means, but I can’t seem to say no to a friendship with one beautiful, damaged man.

What started out as hate turned into something else.

We tried to stay away, to keep our distance, but the pull was too strong.

Something forbidden turned into something so irresistible.

This was my first book by Natasha Madison and really enjoyed it. It was such a fun, sweet, and sexy listen.

I loved Max. He has a rough, bad-tempered exterior, but in actuality he has a such a big heart. To everyone he’s this rough and tough hockey player, but he’s so much more and Allison sees it underneath it all. The way he loved and cared for Allison had me in a constant state of swoon! I loved seeing their relationship develop and grow. It was more on the slow-burn side of the heat spectrum, but the story definitely still had steam. Plus, it made for some amazing tension that kept my earbuds firmly in place.

Narration was performed by Joe Hempel and Cassandra Myles. Cassandra Myles was great as Allison. I love her voice. I swear it’s like a soothing hug. I could listen to her all day and be on cloud nine. Joe Hempel as Max has so, so good! His narration was expressive and hot in equal measure. I’ll definitely be looking up more of his audiobooks. 4 stars.
