Synopsis:KayleeOne night was all it took. One accident and I could no longer outrun my past. The terror I’d escaped was hot on my trail and the only person I could turn to was the man who’d hurt me the most.GriffinOne moment was all it took. One wrong word and she was gone from my life. Fifteen years later, I had a chance to make things right. I could even make Kaylee mine…If the monster didn’t destroy her first.

Five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars from Ari

Kaylee is a single mom struggling to move forward with her life after two failed relationships, one of which was extremely abusive and violent. So much so that she now suffers from severe PTSD. After a terrible flashback leads to a bad accident, Kaylee wakes up to everyone thinking she tried to commit suicide and is forced into counseling by her less than supportive family and uncaring doctors.

Griffin is ex-military and security company owner. He’s also a psychiatrist who specializes in PTSD. He knew Kaylee when they were younger and hurt her. That even had a huge impact on her and set her on the bad path with men. When she is referred to him as a patient he wholeheartedly takes on her case and wants nothing more than to help her deal with her PTSD and to keep her safe. Especially when her abusive ex comes back and begins to threaten her.

I really loved this book and I absolutely adored Griffin! He’s so alpha and commanding. Everything you would expect from an ex-military hero and yet he’s so caring and patient with Kaylee. It just warmed my heart and had me falling for him through the entire book. But my favorite character by far was Kaylee. Her strength and determination to move on with her life despite all the abuse she’s been through was so inspiring and had me rooting for her from the very beginning. Especially after seeing her family is less than supportive about her PTSD. The way Griffin and Kaylee’s relationship grew and changed was sweet, honest and believable. The suspenseful twists and turns in the story kept me devouring the pages as fast as I could and cheering them on so they could find their happiness. I cannot wait to see what’s in store for them in the next book!

This was such a fantastic story. Honest, poignant, brave, real, and heartfelt. It’s a story of second chances, survival, and love. It’s my first book by Ember-Raine Winters and what a way to make a great first impression. Five huge bright stars.
