In this fiery series debut from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Brent, a workplace romance might prove too hot to handle.
Still reeling from a nasty divorce, Melanie Cruz’s pride takes another beating when she loses her enviable job at an upscale resort. After a flurry of unsuccessful interviews, she finally—desperately—accepts a job managing a small chain of family-owned pizzerias in a quaint downtown Phoenix neighborhood. The job also comes with Dominic Esposito, her overbearing but ridiculously handsome boss. Falling for him might be the last thing she expects, but maybe it’s the one thing she needs.
As hard as they try to resist, Melanie and Dominic embark on a romance as hot as a brick oven, and Melanie has every reason to believe that maybe, this time, she’s finally found “the one.”
But Dominic has a secret—one even his family doesn’t know. And the scandal could threaten everything he and Melanie have worked for…in business and in love.
FIVE 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩 hats from Hatter!
As a long time fan of Cora Brent I was super excited when I saw this start of a new series! Fired has everything I love about her writing. Fired has heat, real love, and deep family roots. Full of characters that you can’t help but love and a story that keeps you hooked right from the beginning it’s an immediate favorite for me! After losing her job in a humiliating fashion that wasn’t even her fault Melanie is on the hunt for a new job. When she’s hired on by Dominic’s brother Gio for their new restaurant the sparks instantly fly between the sweet Melanie and Gruff Dominic.
Melanie was so easy to love! She was sweet, funny, and charming. Her eagerness to do the best job no matter what is was and her kindness towards everyone made her the kind of character you just know you’d be friends with in real life. The brooding and regularly grumpy Dominic quickly became so much more than his gruff first impression. His rough demeanor hides a man who loves deeply and has spent his life taking care of everyone around him.
The sparks between Melanie and Dominic grow into a fire that could fuel the ovens for all their restaurants. The sexual tension between them builds into an absolute inferno that will leave you needing a fan and an ice cold drink.
